Mr. Juro Hosoda is considered by many to be the principal founding father of the Associates. Prior to the establishment of the Associates, the basketball teams played under the name of Boy Scout Troop 58, which is sponsored by the Konko Church of San Francisco. Mr. Hosoda recognized that forming a self-sufficient sports organization affiliated with the Boy Scout Troop would be beneficial for the youth in our community. The purpose was to provide a program which would serve the needs of boys during, as well as beyond their Scouting years. Thus, the name “Associates” was created.
