At the end of each season, usually around the second weekend in
June, the Golden Gate Optimist League holds its annual Baseball
Jamboree. This event brings the teams together for a final series
of games over two days. For the A and Intermediate division teams,
the Jamboree provides an opportunity to compete for a trophy (the
Jamboree Championship) at the end of the season, after players have
had a full season of practices and games to develop their skills.
On Sunday afternoon, players and families gather to share food
and fun at the friendship picnic hosted by one of the league teams.
During the picnic a raffle is held for small prizes while trophies
are handed out for League Champions and Jamboree Champions at the
A and Intermediate divisions, and Sportsmanship Awards are given
to the three players chosen from each team who most consistently
exhibit the qualities of sportsmanship. All of the players and their
coaches are introduced, and each player receives a medallion for
participation during the season.
